Social media…

Alright, so instead of stepping up and blogging, tweeting and posting on Facebook, I’ve – well, I’ve failed.

Miserably.

The truth is – I’m a techno-flunkie.  I am stymied by this disconnected connectedness. How can I have “friends” I’ve never met I wonder, and yet I do.   I have read posts and viewed photos that have tugged at my heart and, in an awe-inspiring 140 characters or less, people have written descriptions of sunsets that take my breath away, and yet I am still unable or perhaps unwilling to commit myself to the new social media.   I should have already mastered this new technology, but I haven’t.  Not even close.

And it’s not that I haven’t tried.  I have.   I spent hours on Twitter trying to fill my home page with images of my book-cover, but to no avail, and in spite of my efforts, my Twitter home page is still basic black with a few scattered stars – very dull.  And I still don’t know how to “tag” or “link,” though I’m intrigued enough by tags and links to have tried.

And failed.

But today, I dove into this decade and got an iPhone!  I was almost giddy with joy – certain that it would be my ticket to the social media, that I would be able to post on Facebook and even tweet with the click of a button, but alas, I’m even more confused than before.

I think some of us are just made for telephones and typewriters…

Well, maybe not…

I just liked the sound of that…
